Walker Vreeland, Voice Actor

I've always thought it was miraculous that sound waves, made up of my disembodied voice could be directed into a machine, transported through time and space, released through another machine and then propelled into your consciousness where it can elicit an emotional response, (even if that emotional response prompts you to buy a healthier brand of cat food.) Whether I'm doing commercials, long form narration, or animation, my job is to make the words on the page come alive and move you, somehow. Using my voice to make a genuine, human connection is one of the reasons I love this work.

I also love it because it gives all the different voices that exist within me a creative outlet.

If I were to sum up my brand as a voice actor, I’d use the following three adjectives: friendly, trustworthy, relatable. When the commercial spec says conversational, that’s who you’re going to get. When taking you on a journey through Yellowstone National Park or describing the caramel, oaky notes of a bourbon, I am “a warm, effortless, less-is-more Walker” who asks you to come along for the ride and experience every detail with me. When selling the latest Disney Frozen Playset from Fisher Price or doing a promo for Ryan’s Mystery Playdate on Nickelodeon, the kid in me steps towards the mic, (although not too close, because he’s probably shouting and doesn’t want the audio to get distorted.)

I do quirky very well. Sometimes I’m irreverent. When necessary, I’m over-the-top. (However please note that once I go there, you might have to reel me back in.)

I also have a wide range of character voices and dialects in my repertoire, and have recently done a lot of children’s animation. In the last three years, I’ve been the voice of a rabbit, a finger family member, a moose, a lamb, three different birds and a whale. I also did the English language dubbing for a psychopathic serial killer character who sold people’s organs on the black market (for the Amazon Prime series Beat.) In other words, I’ve got range.

TRAINING

Training never ends. I am passionate about becoming the best voice actor I can be, not only because I want to be successful but because there is great joy in the ongoing pursuit of mastering an art form. If I'm not getting challenged regularly, I'm not learning or growing.

I've studied voice over extensively at Stonestreet Studio for Film and Television and on the job as a freelance voice over artist in New York. For eleven years I was Co-Head of Production at Long Island Radio Broadcasting where I voiced and produced hundreds of radio spots, led countless radio commercial campaigns and coached talent. I currently study voice over with Shelly Shenoy in NYC.
